Editorial Guidelines and Advertisements

Editorial Deadlines
Main contributions should be reliably registered by February (Issue 1) or by August (Issue 2) at the latest (Editorial deadline: March 15 or September 15, respectively).
For the news section (reports, book reviews, obituaries, etc.), the editorial deadline is April 15 or October 15.

Additional Guidelines for Authors
Authors provide their contributions free of charge. Reprints from other publications are not accepted. Authors of main articles receive 10 complimentary copies.
Both the submission of manuscripts and their length should be coordinated with the respective editors. However, authors are kindly requested to submit texts as unformatted Word documents in a standard font (approx. 6 to max. 10 pages/news items 1–2 pages, 12 pt font, 1.5 line spacing). As a guideline, approximately 3,000 words or 20,000 characters may be used for main articles, and 500–700 words or 3,000–5,000 characters including spaces for news items.
The new German orthography applies. However, in ARX the word “Geschoß” (floor on the same level) is written in the southern German Duden variant with “ß”. The word “Geschoss” (ammunition) is not affected.
Sparingly used notes should be included as endnotes. Captions should appear at the end of the text or be submitted separately. Images (minimum 300 dpi at page width) must be submitted separately and must be legally cleared for use.

Since 1979, ARX has been published twice a year or as a double issue. In 2001, the Austrian partner and in 2010, the Bavarian partner withdrew from the costly publication of the journal. The latter assured the South Tyrolean Castle Institute of continued acquisition of issues. During this difficult
